Coach Jones graduated from Long Beach Wilson High School in 2007, where he was a dual athlete playing basketball and football. He went on to play basketball at San Diego Miramar College where he was an all conference player for two years. He helped lead Miramar to two of their most successful seasons in the programs history.

Coach Jones transferred to McMurry University in Abilene, Texas where he led the Warhawks to consecutive conference and tournament championships. Coach Jones was named player of the year at McMurry in his junior season and received multiple honors during his tenure. Steve received his BA in Business Administration and looks forward to working on his master's degree.  After graduating Steve moved back to San Diego to start his coaching career under Head Coach Nick Gehler.

Coach Jones has worked under Coach Gehler for two years as a top recruiter, scout team coordinator, post development coach, as well as academic advisor.  Steve is currently the Head Junior Varsity Coach at Scripps Ranch High School.  Steve is the Director of Coastal Elite Falcons competitive youth basketball club in the Scripps Ranch Area.  He’s always been able to demonstrate a special love for the game which he intends to pass on into his players. He is looking forward to a long career of teaching and impacting young student-athletes. Steve, his wife Lauren, and son Jamal reside in Scripps Ranch.
