Miramar Men's Volleyball hosts annual LA84 coaches clinic
Jul 21, 2014

On Saturday, July 19th, 62 coaches (collegiate level and down) traveled to Miramar College for the annual LA84 Foundation, Volleyball Coaches Clinic. In the 14+ year history of this clinic, it is the first time the clinic was held in San Diego. Coaches from as far north as Visalia and as far east as the Imperial Valley, listened and learned from a clinic staff with a combined 11 California state championships and 17 Coach of the Year awards, including LA Pierce College head coach and L.A. Volleyball Academy director Nabil Mardini, former BYU head coach and Pepperdine asst. coach Shay Goulding Meurer, Irvine Valley College head coach/director of volleyball Tom Pestolesi, CIF state referee coordinator Louis Ventura, and new Miramar College head coach John Landicho.

For many coaches who hadn't heard of Miramar College before, and for all of them who hadn't set foot on our campus before, they came away with a great appreciation for Miramar?s beautiful campus & for the Jets Athletics program, while becoming better educators in the process.

Special thanks to the LA84 Foundation (Wayne Wilson and Michael Salmon), and especially LA84 volleyball coordinator Bobbie Estes, for allowing the College to host this important clinic.

Consistent with the mission of San Diego Miramar College, Miramar Jets Intercollegiate Athletics will strive for academic and athletic excellence by offering model programs that fit the needs, interests, and abilities of our male and female student-athletes. In this context, excellence is focused on the physical, emotional, and intellectual well being to develop meaningful standards of character, respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership, and sportsmanship within the educational and social environment, through highly qualified educators, coaches, and state-of-the-art facilities.
