Sandy Dielman is back for her 4th season with the Miramar Jets water polo team (2009, 2010, 2015). Dielman started coaching the Pacific Swim novice swim team and Pacific Polo novice water polo team during the summers of her college career as a Division I water polo team member at San Diego State University. After college, Sandy continued to coach and became the Girls’ Varsity Water Polo Coach at Westview High School in 2004. Dielman acquired the team with a 15th ranking in their division and finished 4th in their division in her second year coaching the team. After completing her MS Industrial Organizational Psychology degree in 2006, Dielman stopped coaching to start a career in management consulting.


Dielman was a 4-year varsity swimmer and water polo player for Poway High School. In 1998, the Poway High School Girl’s Water Polo team won a CIF Championship and Dielman was named San Diego CIF Player of the Year. Dielman was selected as 1 of 13 players to play for the USA Youth National Team in 1998 and 1999. In 2000, Dielman led the Palomar College Women’s Water Polo team to a PCAC Champion and placed 4th in the CCCAA. Dielman earned PCC Player of the year, All Conference, All American Honors and was inducted into the Palomar Hall of Fame in 2015 for her role on the team in 2000. Dielman then went on to play at San Diego State University with a starting position her Junior and Senior year. Dielman became Team Captain and was named MPSF Player of the Week and NCAA Division I All-American in 2004.


After college, Dielman played overseas in Australia for the 2006-2007 water polo season. Dielman was also a member of the New York Athletic Club Women’s Water Polo team from 2005 to 2008. She still plays for a local master’s team, Darkside (formerly known as OMBAC) Water Polo, where she holds several Master’s National gold medals in the 20’s and 30’s age divisions.  Today, Dielman enjoys spending time with her family, raising her two young boys Reid (6) and Blake (4), and surfing.
