Jets Swim Off to a Strong Start in 2026 Season
March 19, 2026
The San Diego Miramar College men's and women's swim teams are off to an impressive start this season. In their first PCAC meet of the year, both teams captured first place while posting season-best times across the board.
Through the opening meets, Miramar swimmers have already begun rewriting the record books, with multiple school records broken and a number of athletes achieving not only season-best times, but lifetime personal records.
This early success reflects the strong team culture that has been built within the program. With an emphasis on hard work, accountability, and daily commitment, the 2026 Jets have established a focused and competitive environment. That culture is reinforced by sophomore captains Sofie Salazar and Jonathan Cesena whose leadership continues to set the tone both in and out of the pool.
As the season progresses, the Jets are locked in and hungry for competition as they push toward the PCAC Conference Championships. But their goals extend beyond conference.
Already, several Miramar swimmers have met State "A" cut standards, putting them in position to compete at the 3C2A State Championships, hosted by Orange Coast College, following the conference meet.
Despite being a young program—now in just its second season after debuting in 2025—Miramar's men's and women's swim teams are quickly establishing a strong and exciting legacy. With continued growth, performance, and leadership, the Jets are proving they are a program to watch in the PCAC and beyond.
